Peel aftercare: the five rules that matter

Skin care

Peeling skin is part of the process. These five habits keep it comfortable and protect the result.

A chemical peel works by removing the outer layers of skin, so some flaking from day two to day five is expected. How you treat your skin that week matters more than the peel itself.

Don’t pick or scrub. Use a gentle cleanser and a plain moisturizer. Skip retinoids and exfoliating acids for a week. Stay out of saunas and hard workouts for two days. And wear broad-spectrum sunscreen every day, even when it’s cloudy.

Call us if your skin blisters, oozes or feels hot and painful. Those are not normal parts of peeling.
